Introducing Robby Kelley, Podiumwear Alpine Ski Racer

US alpine racer, Robby Kelley has an impressive pedigree. As a member of the famous “Skiing Cochran” family, he has a lot to live up to. He is the son of Steve and Lindy Kelley.  Lindy was a 1976 Olympian and eight-year member of the U.S. Ski Team in the 70‘s.  His older siblings, Tim and Jessica, have also been members of the U.S. Ski Team.  While his family name is compelling, it is Robby’s racing career thus far that has people talking.  It was at the Adelboden Audi FIS Alpine World Cup competition in 2013, on a course known to be most challenging Men’s Giant Slalom Course on the World Cup circuit, that Robby matched his age by skiing to 23rd place, earning his first official World Cup points in the process.  Currently Robby is the youngest US technical skier (slalom and giant slalom) to be ranked in the World Cup standings in each of the last two seasons.

We, at Podiumwear, are thrilled to announce that Robby will be donning Podiumwear Alpine Race Suits for the 2014/15 FIS World Cup season.  He will be focusing his training and racing primarily on the Slalom and Giant Slalom events this year.  To prepare, Robby has been running, biking, and weight training in an effort to improve his physical fitness.  He is also planning to ski in 10-14 races during his 5-week training trip to New Zealand.

“My goal is to work hard everyday and maintain a strong focus in order to get myself skiing as fast as I possibly can.  Whether or not things go the right way in the races, I want to know I did everything I could to prepare myself and put myself in a position to ski super duper fast.”

While on his longest trip outside of the United States, Robby will be testing out the Podiumwear Alpine Race Suits on the slopes down under.  We’ve already received great comments about the fit, fabric, construction, and durability of the One and Two-Piece Padded Alpine Race Suits.

“I want a suit that allows me to move freely as if I'm not wearing a skin-tight suit,” explained Robby. “The Podiumwear suits gives me all of that. They have a nice aerodynamic fit that doesn't restrict my range of motion and have held up much better than any suit I've ever worn in the past.”

Robby will be partnering with Podiumwear designers to make his eclectic design ideas come to life.  There is talk of cow print, crazy neon colors, and/or flannel patterns.  We are just as curious as you are to see the end Podiumwear product!
