Which Podiumwear Cycling Jersey is Right For You - Gold, Silver, Bronze or Freeride?

Bike jersey fit has a lot to do with personal preference.  While some cyclists are looking for a form fitting racing jersey that can hold up under high mileage training or brutal race conditions, others are just looking for a comfortable jersey for the occasional weekend or charity ride. Most of us fall somewhere in-between. At Podiumwear, our solution is to offer 3 different levels of jerseys – Gold, Silver and Bronze – that together accommodate nearly every body type, performance requirement and price point. We also offer a specialty line of Freeride apparel made specifically for mountain bikers.  In short, if you’re looking for a jersey, we’ve got you covered. Without further adieu, allow me to make the introductions.

Fit as a fiddle and serious about mileage? Meet our GOLD Jersey.
Ripping fast and oh-so-skin-tight

Are you a serious cyclist looking for a correspondingly high-performance jersey? The Gold Jersey is your new best friend. Designed for the most aggressive riders, this jersey is meant to be worn like a second skin. The Gold jersey boasts flatlock stitching, laser cut grip bands that ensure both comfort and performance. The ultra-lightweight fabric with carbon yarn has a high spandex content, which provides that incredibly close fit and allows for exceptional wicking performance. It also means no extra donuts for you on that coffee ride. If you are hovering between sizes, or are holding onto a bit of winter insulation (as we call it in Minnesota), but still want that aggressive euro-race fit, size down, the spandex should allow for it. Otherwise order your normal size and expect a very tight fit.

Looking for a jersey that’s breathable, aerodynamic and won’t break the bank? Meet our hard-working SILVER Jersey.
Fast, fitted, breathable and light.

Are you putting in some heavy mileage, but want a bit less spandex? Meet Gold’s laid-back neighbor: the Silver jersey. Still designed with a slim Euro fit (read: you may still want to skip that extra donut), this jersey looks very similar to the Gold with set-in sleeves, angled dump pockets and kissing-welt zipper construction.

Unlike the Gold jersey, however, the Silver has soft, fold-over arm bands and overlock stitching throughout, giving it a lower price point. The light-weight fabric on the Silver was chosen for its durability and wicking power. While there is some minimal stretch in this jersey, it comes from the construction of the fabric rather than the content of the fabric. If you’re in between sizes, we recommend sizing up on this one for comfort.

Like long bike rides, beer and more coverage? Meet our BRONZE Jersey.
Classic and durable, it’s a t-shirt disguised as a bike jersey.

If comfort and functionality had a love child, it would be a good looking Bronze jersey. This is the jersey you invite out to a fun charity ride, or for a weekend cruise on the bike path, maybe for a donut? While it’s still designed for a ride-position fit - slightly higher in the front and longer in the back - with ample dump pockets and the option of half-zip or full zipper, our Bronze fits much more like a t-shirt. If you’ve got a bit more girth to cover, or if you just prefer some extra air flow while you’re riding, you’ll love this jersey. The fabric is light-weight and breathable with good wicking properties and an uncomplicated raglan sleeve that offers a longer, more relaxed sleeve opening. This jersey is relatively true to size and runs from XXS - 4XL to accommodate all body types.

Wearing baggies and shredding dirt? Meet our FREERIDE Jerseys.
Lightweight, casual and hard-working on and off the bike.

If you are ditching the spandex and looking for a simplified riding jersey, meet the Freeride line which has short sleeve, three-quarter sleeve and long sleeve styles. Without dump pockets or a zipper, these jerseys were designed to look like a t-shirt with the technical performance of a jersey. They are made with lightweight, breathable fabric with good wicking properties and high durability - perfect for endurance trail riding. Without the bells and whistles of a standard bike jersey, these jerseys work nearly as well off the bike as they do on the trail. The Freestyle jerseys are designed to be semi-form fitted, so if you like a loose fit, we suggest you size up. And then, hey - why not?  -treat yourself to a donut.
