How Much Do Custom Team Uniforms Cost? (A Straight Answer)

For coaches and program directors who need real numbers, not a sales pitch.

If you've started looking into custom uniforms, this is usually the first question. You want a real number so you can plan your budget and decide whether it makes sense for your program.

Here it is.

What custom uniforms actually cost

At Podiumwear, fully custom uniforms range from around $40 for basic pieces to $245 for elite-level competition wear. Most programs land somewhere in the middle.

Here's a general sense of where common items fall:

Item Typical range
Custom uniform top $40–$120
Full uniform set $70–$140
Warm-up jacket $120–$180
Competition/race wear $140–$245

Every item in that range is fully custom: your colors, your logo, your design. The difference between price points is fabric performance, construction quality, and fit precision, not whether it's "really" custom.

The three tiers explained

Podiumwear uses a Bronze, Silver, and Gold tier system across most sports. Here's what that actually means:

Bronze is a serious, durable custom uniform. It's built for development programs, youth teams, and budget-conscious programs that want real custom kit without the top price.

Silver is the most popular tier. It's where most competitive programs land: a meaningful performance step up from Bronze, without paying for elite-level materials your team may not need yet.

Gold is built for high-performance and elite competition programs where fabric quality and fit precision make a real difference on the start line or the field.

All three tiers include the same design process, the same free revisions, and the same 3D proof before anything goes to production.

What you're actually paying for

The line item on your invoice is for a uniform. What you're actually buying is:

  • A design process with a real human artist assigned to your program
  • Free revisions until the design is right
  • A 3D proof so you see exactly what you're getting before production starts
  • The uniform itself, produced to the spec you approved
  • Shipping to your door

There are no hidden art fees. You pay the listed price plus shipping.

The minimum order

Your first order needs to reach $999 total. For most programs, that's not a difficult threshold. A team of 8 athletes ordering warm-up jackets at Bronze pricing gets there easily.

After your first order, there is no minimum on reorders. You can add a single athlete mid-season without triggering a new production run. That matters for programs that grow through the year or lose track of final roster numbers before the season starts.

How payment works

Podiumwear uses a straightforward payment schedule:

  1. $200 deposit to begin the design process
  2. 50% charged when production starts
  3. Remaining balance charged before shipping

If you use a team storefront, athletes pay individually on their own. That removes the headache of one person collecting money from fifteen different families.

What changes your total cost

A few things move the number up or down.

Rush orders add at least 25% or $250. If you can plan ahead, you avoid this entirely. Standard production runs 3 to 4 weeks from the date your final sizes are submitted or your storefront closes.

More items per athlete means a higher total, not a higher per-item price. The tier pricing is fixed. What grows your invoice is the number of pieces in each athlete's order.

Shipping setup varies. Drop-ship to individual athletes costs more than a single shipment to one address.

The real cost question

A lot of programs focus only on the upfront number. But if you've ordered cheaper uniforms before, you probably know what happens: colors fade, prints crack, and you're back shopping for uniforms again before the next season.

The better question is: how long do you want these to last?

Custom dye-sublimated uniforms embed the design into the fabric rather than printing on top of it. The colors don't fade. Programs that order once and reorder only to add athletes are getting a much lower cost per season than programs replacing cheap kits every year.

You have more control over the total than you think

A few practical ways to keep costs where you want them:

Order early and avoid rush fees. Hit the $999 minimum once, then rely on reorders. Use a team storefront so athletes self-select sizes and you don't over-order. Order based on your actual confirmed roster, not your hoped-for one.
